If hiking from your back door and being at one with nature ticks your home wish list, North Jingle Pot is a great choice.
Like neighbouring South Jingle Pot, residents of North Jingle Pot enjoy peace and quiet and more elbow room with larger properties, acreages, and farms, as well as subdivisions for those looking for more conventional housing options, with more upscale neighbourhoods in the area including Benson Meadows, Shady Mile, and Rock Ridge. Located in close proximity to the Trans Canada Highway and the major shopping centres in the north end, living in rural North Jingle Pot offers you the best of both worlds.
There is one elementary school in the North Jingle Pot area of Nanaimo, Mountain View School, for students from K to Grade 7. Students from Grade 8 - 12 would go to Nanaimo District Secondary School located in the University District.
Like their neighbours to the south, residents of North Jingle Pot would find all they need minutes away in neighbouring communities such as Uplands and North Nanaimo while their proximity to the highway provides easy access to any community within the area.
Residents of South and North Jingle Pot enjoy a tranquil, rural setting in the valley under Mt. Benson, with access to an abundance of year-round outdoor recreational activities on their doorsteps from swimming and paddle boating to fishing, and from walking and hiking to mountain biking.
For those who call North Jingle Pot home the short drive into neighboring communities to meet their daily needs is a small price to pay for peace and tranquility on their doorsteps. Conveniently located close to the highway all other areas are within easy reach and so too are the entertainment options the more built-up communities offer from catching a new release at one of the two movie theatres, the Landmark Cinemas in neighboring North Nanaimo or the Cineplex Cinema in the Uplands area, attending a music event at the Port Theatre in the Old City, or an exhibition in nearby Diver Lake's Beban Park Social Centre.
While there are no notable dining options in North Jingle Pot, the area’s proximity to the highway and downtown core makes all other community dining options easily accessible and a short car ride away.
Mount Benson Regional Park is located in North Jingle Pot. On the upper north-east slopes of Mount Benson, the park overlooks the City of Nanaimo and offers panoramic views over the Island, and across the Georgia Strait to the mainland. Year-round activities include hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. On the western slopes of Mount Benson is the 22 hectare, heavily wooded Benson Creek Falls Regional Park featuring two waterfalls, this park is not for the novice with steep ravines and rough unmaintained trails.
