Nanoose Bay offers some of the most impressive oceanfront properties on Vancouver Island. Area Overview
Nanoose Bay is primarily a residential community located between Nanaimo and Parksville on Vancouver Island. Natural elements have been incorporated into much of the area’s development, including rock bluffs and mature trees, which provide the area with a distinctly west-coast flavour.
The Fairwinds master-planned community complete with its award-winning golf course, full-service marina, private fitness club, and inviting walking trails, is a primary draw to the area for the lifestyle benefits it affords.
Outside of the Fairwinds community, the Pacific Ocean has carved a rugged coastline of enchanting little bays, providing the ideal setting for some of Vancouver Island’s most impressive waterfront estates. In contrast, the area also offers some of the most affordable homes on Central Vancouver Island for those that don’t mind a short drive to work in either Parksville or Nanaimo.
Schools
Nanoose Bay students attend Nanoose Bay elementary from Kindergarten to Grade 7, before attending Ballenas Secondary in Parksville from Grade 8.
Recreational Opportunities
Boating, sailing, and fishing are naturally leading recreational activities with the Fairwinds Marina centrally located in the community. Vancouver Island is world-renown for its cold-water diving, with Nanoose Bay’s many coves providing some of the region’s best shore diving locations.
The Fairwinds fitness club offers two weight rooms, a 20-metre indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, tennis courts, racquet sports facilities, fitness classes, and personal training services, while the many trails in the area provide an ideal venue to get some exercise and fresh air close to home.
Set in amongst the residential community and offering impressive ocean views, the Fairwinds Golf Course, complete with driving range, PGA of Canada Instructors, and the Fairwinds Bar & Grill, is considered among the island’s top golf courses. The nearby Morningstar Golf Club in Parksville and the Nanaimo Golf Club present a couple of challenging alternatives just a short drive away.

Located between Nanaimo and Parksville, entertainment options are usually found in one of these neighbouring communities.

The Rocking Horse Pub and Fairwinds Bar & Grill provide a couple of options within the community while a short drive to either Parksville or Nanaimo opens up significantly more options.
Parks
There are more than 30 parks dispersed throughout the Nanoose Bay community. A few to highlight include Brickyard Bay, which offers beach access with excellent swimming, Moorcroft Park with its natural landscape, and Notch Hill which provides a challenging 30-60 minute hike, with fabulous vistas of Nanoose Harbour, Nanaimo to the south, and Mt. Arrowsmith to the northwest.
